What is the ICC?

The International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is an internationally recognized document that certifies your competence in operating pleasure craft. It is based on Resolution No. 40 of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The ICC was developed to facilitate cross-border recreational boating and ensure uniform minimum standards for the competence of pleasure craft operators.

ICC Inland Waters

Scope: Rivers, canals, lakes and other inland waters

Boat length: Up to 20 meters

Propulsion: Motor and sail

ICC Coastal Waters

Scope: Coastal waters up to 12 nautical miles from shore

Boat length: Up to 24 meters

Propulsion: Motor and sail

Important Notes

Renewal: Renew your license up to 6 months before expiry or up to 2 years after. After 2 years, a new exam is required.
